Lima, Jul 21 (Prensa Latina) The Peruvian Government passed a law for the environmental preservation of Titicaca Lake, which is shared by the country with Bolivia, through national resources and international cooperation.
The law, published in the official gazette El Peruano, says that the National Executive, Puno´s regional government, on the Peruvian side of the lake, and the coastal municipalities, will prioritize actions to favor the also called Sacred Lake.

The law states that the central government will set guidelines and criteria for the development of these initiatives, while the regional administration and municipalities will develop plans, activities, programs and projects prioritizing its funding budget.
It also authorizes the three levels to manage international cooperation, external debt, and Treasury resources, with the approval of the Ministry of Economy, to supplement the required financing.
It also indicates that in 90 days, the national government will create a permanent multi-sectoral commission to be headed by Environment Minister, Manuel Pulgar-Vidal, to coordinate policies, plans, programs and projects aimed at prevention and at the comprehensive environmental recovery of the lake.
